I was glad I didn't go to the game for the first half, but would have been happy overall. I've never been a great fan of Crouch, but he comes up with the goals time and time again for England. Going against how a lot of teams play balls towards Crouch, he seems to be better when he doesn't get a long ball onto his head in my opinion (which doesn't count for much!). Defoe continues to be unconvincing for me as he needs too many chances, but Rooney always seems to have the fighting ability required when heads go down. What really gets to me more than anything is that Terry was getting booed. What's the point? The press stirred it all up for a month in the first place and then everyone joins on the bandwagon. How does it help the team? What good is it going to do to boo Terry in what is one of only 2 or 3 home warm-up games before the World Cup starts? It's like a portion of the England Fans do not want us to do well and why do they bother supporting us at all if that's how they feel? If Terry isn't in the squad who do you want instead? Personally I was happy to see Leighton Baines at left back, as a Toffee supporter, and his performance was good but nothing outstanding going forward like Ashley Cole could bring to the team. Before the game, I underestimated Egypt a lot. They've won the last 3 African Nations tournaments and clearly have a lot to offer going forward, especially with the movement of Mohamed Zidan from Borussia Dortmund. Playing Egypt today, provides England with a good sampling of a test of what we may face with the African teams. Although 12 weeks away, I'm looking forward to the next Wembley test where we are likely to face Mexico at the end of May.
